Goat’s Milk Soap Benefits
A lot of people are still washing their skin with water-based soaps these days. We got into the business of making goat’s milk soap by hand because of all the good it does for people like us with dry, sensitive skin, or skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema, but goat’s milk soap can benefit people of all skin types, no matter how you choose to wash with it! We’re proud to offer a variety of handmade goat’s milk soaps featuring an array of delightful scents (including unscented!), and we’re confident you’ll never go back to supermarket, water-based soaps again once you experience the benefits for yourself.
Remove Dead Skin Cells
Goat milk contains fatty acids that help remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, leaving behind newer, smoother, and younger-looking skin cells. The fatty acids in goat’s milk soap are more effective than standard water-based soaps at removing dead skin cells because the fatty acids break down the bonds that hold the dead skin cells together. Removing dead skin cells is beneficial because they’re a common irritant for people with skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Some water-based “supermarket” soaps use harsh chemical acids to help you remove dead skin cells while washing, but they often damage your skin in the process.
Your Skin With Vitamins
Goat’s milk soap is rich in vitamins, particularly vitamin A, which helps your skin protect itself against damage and ensure its best condition. In fact, many of the skincare creams that are made to control acne and reduce lines and wrinkles are made with similar amounts of vitamin A. These benefits are only further enhanced when you factor in that most Southern Natural goat’s milk soaps are also made with palm, olive, and coconut oil — all incredibly beneficial nutrients for your skin.
Protect Your Skin With Minerals
Goat milk and goat’s milk soap also contain many minerals that are valuable for your body, like selenium. Selenium is an important mineral that is most often found in nuts and leafy greens like broccoli, which many people don’t get enough of in their diets. Selenium helps protect your skin against free radicals, which can cause cancer, and it can help prevent sun damage to your skin (though not enough that you should consider goat’s milk soap a substitute for sunscreen). Unfortunately, the water used in most supermarket soaps contains next to no mineral benefits for your skin.
Moisturize & Hydrate Your Skin
Goat’s milk soap is replete with fatty acids, proteins, and skincare oils, and these ingredients combine to form a rich lather that deeply nourishes your skin. The fat molecules in our goat’s milk soap moisturize your skin’s surface, leaving it feeling smooth and pliable, and the proteins and fats within our soaps penetrate your skin to draw water in, improving your skin’s elasticity and leaving it feeling as firm as it is smooth. Both moisturization and hydration can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on your skin.
Soothe Skin Conditions
Our goat’s milk soaps are gentle, all-purpose cleansers that are friendly to all skin types and can be used for your hands, face, and body. You can even use it as shampoo! The incredible moisturizing and hydrating effects of our handmade goat’s milk soaps make them great for anyone with dry, sensitive skin or psoriasis or eczema. Soothe your sensitive skin and get clean while improving the health of your skin over time. Combine your skincare routine and bathing routine into one by ordering a bar of our all-natural goat’s milk soap today!
FAQs about Goat Milk Soap
Is goat's milk soap good for your skin?
Goat's milk soap is often considered good for the skin due to several beneficial properties. It is rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, which is known for its ability to repair damaged skin tissue and maintain healthy skin. Additionally, goat's milk contains lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that gently exfoliates the skin by removing dead skin cells, which can help improve the appearance and texture of the skin.
The natural cream present in goat's milk soap may help keep your skin moisturized, offering a soothing effect for dry and sensitive skin types. Moreover, goat's milk has a similar pH level to that of human skin, which can help protect the skin's natural barrier without stripping away natural oils.

Can you use goat milk soap on your hair?
Goat milk soap can generally be used on hair, as it contains nourishing ingredients like vitamins and minerals that can benefit the scalp and hair. However, because its formulation may differ from traditional shampoos, it's important to test it gently on a small section of hair first. Observe how your hair and scalp react over several uses, as individual results may vary. If you notice any irritation or undesired effects, consider discontinuing use or consulting a professional.
Are Southern Natural goat milk soaps cruelty free?
Whether goat milk soap is cruelty-free depends on how the soap is made and the practices of the company producing it. At Southern Natural, every goat milk bar soap, every drop of lotion and every package of goat milk bath uses milk from goats that are treated humanely. We do not test on animals.
