How to Add Essential Oils To Your Daily Routine

New to the world of essential oils?  If you've been reading about the benefits of essential oils and are wondering how to add them into your daily routine, it's really easy (and fun) if you follow a few safety guidelines.

Essential oils have been used since ancient times for healing and therapy. They've been staples for therapeutic, medical, and holistic healing for at least 6,000 years. These concentrated plant extracts can stimulate your senses, complement traditional medical treatments. When used safely, they can help relieve the symptoms of a variety of common issues and health complaints. At Southern Natural, we infuse many of our goat's milk soaps with essential oils to give you beautiful scents and extra nourishment for your skin. Here's what you need to know about using essential oils in your daily routine. You can start by browsing our line of essential oil-scented goat’s milk soaps and ordering your favorite bar today!

A Quick Safety Note: How NOT To Add Essential Oils To Your Health Routine

Before we get into the good stuff, here's what NOT to do with essential oils:

  • Don't swallow essential oils. Essential oils are highly concentrated and can damage your liver and kidneys if ingested directly.
  • Don't apply essential oils directly to your skin. While essential oils have great benefits for skin, they're too strong to use undiluted. If you want to use essential oils topically, dilute them with a carrier oil like coconut or olive oil, or use products that already have them safely incorporated — like our goat's milk soaps!

How To Add Essential Oils To Your Healthcare Routine

Now for the fun part. Let’s talk about the many ways you can enjoy essential oils in your daily life!

Essential Oil Diffusers

This is the most popular way to use essential oils. Aromatherapy diffusers are easy to use and affordable. You can find them at most stores that sell humidifiers. Just add a few drops of your favorite oil to the diffuser with some water, and enjoy the pleasant scent filling your space.

Note: Diffusers and humidifiers aren't the same thing! Most humidifiers aren't made to handle essential oils and can break if you add them. Check your owner's manual before you try to use EOs in any humidifier or other equipment.

Experiment with Essential Oil Sprays

For a quicker option, pre-diluted essential oil sprays work just like any spray bottle. Spray them in the air, breathe in, and enjoy.  Some can even be sprayed on your skin as a natural fragrance or used on your pillow at night time. This is because they're properly diluted and use only the mildest, safest oils. Check the label to be sure!

Use Bath Products with Essential Oils

Adding essential oils to your bath gives you the benefits of both inhaling and topical use. You can add a few drops to any hot bath, or try products like our Goat Milk Bath Soaks that already have essential oils infused in them for deep nourishment.

Essential Oil-Infused Soaps & Lotions

This is where our goat's milk soaps and lotions come in! Using skincare products that already have essential oils safely incorporated means you get all the benefits without any guesswork. Our soaps combine the moisturizing properties of goat milk with the added benefits of essential oils for healthy, nourished skin.
