Traditional Cold-Process Goat's Milk Soap

Traditional Cold-Process Goat's Milk Soap

At Southern Natural Soap, we use a traditional soap-making process that produces excellent results. We mix fats, lye (sodium hydroxide), and liquid together and a chemical reaction called saponification occurs, creating soap. Our ingredients include high-quality food-grade vegetable oils and butters and goat’s milk. Goat’s milk is chock full of vitamins, minerals, and proteins that are beneficial for your skin. We also add any essential oils or fragrance oils to scent the soap.

We use the cold process of soap-making instead of adding heat to speed up the chemical reaction. While the soap is curing, the lye is completely neutralized, leaving no trace behind. The curing process also allows excess water to evaporate. This creates a harder bar of soap that will last longer in the shower.

We allow our soap to cure for six to eight weeks to ensure excellent quality and mildness. Our goat’s milk soap is nourishing and gentle for those with sensitive skin, rashes, eczema, or allergies. It’s even mild enough for a baby’s tender skin! It may take a while, but this tried and true process creates an exceptional bar of soap.
